Nascido na Bahia, Castro Alves teve uma formação literária e humanística sólida. Sua poesia era marcada pelo romantismo, com ênfase na exaltação da natureza, da liberdade e do amor. No entanto, foi sua luta contra a escravidão que o tornou uma figura notável.
Castro Alves teve uma vida curta, mas deixou um legado poético e político duradouro. Sua obra continua a ser estudada e celebrada, tanto por sua qualidade artística quanto por seu compromisso com as questões sociais de sua época.
