Paulo Leonel Gomes Vergolino é doutor em educação, arte e história da cultura pela Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (UPM), mestre em artes visuais e especialista em gravura pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) e especialista em museologia pelos museus de Arte Contemporânea da USP e de Arqueologia e Etnologia da USP.
Possui graduação em educação artística pela Universidade Federal do Pará e atuou nas áreas de artes visuais, museologia, produção cultural, pesquisa e curadoria, com ênfase em artes plásticas. Atualmente é professor de artes visuais do Instituto Federal do Pará (IFPA), Campus Óbidos.
Entre suas produções destacam-se as publicações “O Olhar estrangeiro: a gravura de Hans Steiner como recorte-modelo para o resgate da história da gravura no Brasil”, livro advindo de sua dissertação de mestrado, defendida e aprovada em 2015, e a publicação inédita “Em Nome da Vida: A Trajetória Internacional do Artista-Gravador Hans Steiner (1910-1974)”, a ser lançada em dezembro de 2023 em Belém (Pará) pela editora Pedro e João de São Paulo.
